Chelsea remain unbeaten in the WSL this season and the six-time reigning champions are looking to go invincible in the league once more.
The Blues’ unbeaten streak currently stands at 29 games and they are now just four matches away from levelling their own WSL record of 33 games without a loss.
Should they maintain their form this season Chelsea could go invincible – but it wouldn’t be the first time a team has achieved that feat.
The first team to go unbeaten in a single WSL season was Arsenal in 2012.
There were only eight teams in the league when the Gunners completed their unbeaten year but the achievement remains an impressive one.
Arsenal won 10 and drew four as they became the first club in football to have a men’s and women’s team go invincible in the top flight.
Kim Little played a major role in her club’s league title with 11 goals in the division making her the top scorer and first female Scottish golden boot winner.

Arsenal finished eight points clear of Birmingham City during what was a dominant period for England’s top side.
Their WSL title in 2012 was Arsenal’s ninth in a row but their dynasty came to an abrupt end just one year later.
After four years of a competitive league, three different teams went invincible between 2016 and 2020.
First was Manchester City and they were history makers themselves. City became the first team to go unbeaten in a season since the league expanded to nine teams in 2014.
City only dropped points on three occasions during their almost-perfect campaign with draws coming against Liverpool twice and Birmingham City on the final day of the season.
The Cityzens kept clean sheets in 12 of their 16 games en route to winning the league.
Although they scored 36 goals in the season and conceded just four, no City star won the golden boot in 2016.
Chelsea’s Eni Aluko won that title with Jane Ross of City falling one short of the prize.
While City were unstoppable in 2016, the team’s glory was only short lived.
In the ensuing years, City finished runners up for the next five consecutive campaigns. The club hasn’t won the WSL since their remarkable invincible season in 2016.
The 2017 season in England was an unprecedented one to say the least.
Nine teams played out a WSL Spring Series which bridged the gap between the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaign.
Although the season was much shorter, it is still considered to be a full and creditable WSL campaign.
It was Arsenal who finished the eight-game league season unbeaten but the club remarkably didn’t even finish in the top two in England.
Despite Arsenal winning five and drawing three in the Spring Series, both Manchester City and Chelsea finished above the Gunners with only one loss each.
Regardless of their league finish, Arsenal’s 2017 side still became just the third team to achieve an invincible campaign.
Although it took Chelsea longer than the rest of the teams on this list to have an unbeaten season, the club has done it three times between 2017 and 2025.
The first of their unstoppable campaigns came in 2017/18. Chelsea were able to win 13 games and draw just five in an incredible year.
This season was one of the closest in the WSL as the Blues only finished top by six points despite finishing the year unbeaten.
Manchester City lost two of their last five games and after finishing on a higher goal difference even with the defeats, if they had won both of their final fixtures the table would’ve looked a whole lot different.
The 2017/18 campaign was Emma Hayes’ third WSL title since taking over as Chelsea boss in 2012 and her first of two invincible years with the club.
The Blues did the league and Cup double as they remained unbeaten in both competitions
Chelsea also won the FA Cup in what was a double winning season for the Blues.
In 2019/20, Covid-19 took the league by storm with the WSL forced to abandon after February.
The FA decided that in that season the league would be decided on average points-per-game ratio which handed Chelsea yet another title.
The Blues were awarded their third WSL trophy despite Manchester City finishing the season on one more point. City finished on 40 points to Chelsea’s 39 but with one less game played, Emma Hayes’ team had a better points per game record.
Before the league was abandoned Chelsea were as dominant as ever. The club’s only dropped points came against Brighton – who have become a bogey team for the Blues of late – Liverpool and Manchester City.
The final game played in the 2019/20 season was Manchester City vs Chelsea. The Blues came from behind to earn a 3-3 daw with City in a match that they didn’t realise would decide the title.
If Chelsea had lost their invincible record to City then they also would have lost the league – but they weren’t to know that at the time.
Last season Chelsea continued their dominance in the top flight with their sixth league title in a row.
The Blues have been unstoppable ever since Sonia Bompastor joined the club at the beginning of last season, with Emma Hayes moving into international management.
Bompastor is yet to lose a league game with Chelsea since arriving in England after going unbeaten in all 22 games last year.
With just three draws and 19 wins, Chelsea racked up the biggest ever points tally in England’s top flight.
Shock draws against Leicester, West Ham and Brighton were the only thing preventing the Blues from recording the first-ever season with no losses or draws.
Chelsea’s unbeaten season in 2024/25 is arguably the most impressive of all six unbeaten teams as they are the only team to achieve it in a 12-team league.
Going unbeaten two seasons in a row is something that is unprecedented in the WSL but if one team can do it, it’s Chelsea.
There has been no team as dominant as the Blues over the last six years and their dynastic run is showing no signs of slowing down.
Chelsea have won four from four so far this year and they’ve conceded just two goals.
Bompastor’s team has only faced one of last season’s top four so far this year, beating Manchester City 2-1 in the season’s curtain raiser.
The next few weeks will certainly test Chelsea with some huge matches coming up, including high-flying Manchester United away on Friday night.
Chelsea also face Arsenal next month in what could be the biggest test of their resolve so far this year.
