Norway international Mathilde Harviken is the latest summer signing for Women’s Super League club Aston Villa, where she joins from Italian side Juventus.
The defender began her career in Norway before spells with FL Fart and Røa, later joining Rosenborg in 2022. She made more than 80 appearances for the club and helped them lift the Norwegian Cup in 2023.
The centre-back joined Juventus in 2025, where she made almost 50 appearances, helped her team win domestic trophies and was part of the Champions League.
Harviken also brings experience on the international stage to the Villans. She made her senior Norway debut in 2022 after progressing through the country’s youth ranks. She has since become a regular for Norway and represented them at both the 2023 World Cup and EURO 2025.
Speaking after completing her move, the 24-year-old said: “It’s a really good opportunity to join a club with such a big history. There are great facilities here and everything you need to perform and continue developing as a player.”
Harviken is ready for the next challenge in her career, and playing in the WSL.
“I think it’s a really good opportunity to join a club with such a big history. It’s a really strong league and I’m looking forward to playing hard games every week and developing with the team.”
Marisa Ewers, Director of Women’s Football at Aston Villa, said: “Mathilde is a player we’ve been tracking for over two years and we’ve been consistently impressed by her development. She has a lot of experience for her age and we believe she has all the attributes to make an impact here and continue developing. We’re excited to see what she can bring to the team.”
