As per the Bucks Free Press, both Wycombe Wanderers and Luton Town are interested in a move for Morley, who has been left out of the last three matchday squads at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

The 25-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Adams Park and was a major part of the Chairboys' incredible start to the campaign under Matt Bloomfield before being recalled in January.

He'd go on to have an equally important part to play in the Bolton side under Steven Schumacher in the second half of last season, but this year has seen his involvement sporadic, and the Chairboys could be in a position to swoop on a permanent deal one year on from his recall.

According to the Bucks Free Press, Wycombe are set to rival Luton in the race to sign out-of-favour Bolton midfielder Morley, who is reportedly valued at £500,000.

The Trotters travelled to and were beaten by the Chairboys on Saturday, with Morley not part of the matchday squad. Instead, he was seen training on his own before the game.

This was the third straight game that the 25-year-old had played no part in, with his last appearance coming in Bolton's 4-0 defeat against League Two side Swindon Town in the FA Cup at the start of the month.

So far this season, Morley has been a bit-part player for Steven Schumacher's side, starting seven of Bolton's 20 League One games.

These included the two league outings prior to this three-game spell out of the side.

However, developments this month have seen his role decrease massively, and if he is allowed to leave this coming January, Wycombe will be eager for him to continue where he left off last year during his short loan spell at Adams Park.

Morley has shown on several occasions over the last few seasons that he can be a major player in a promotion-chasing side, as seen both at Bolton and last year at Wycombe.

The 25-year-old was a massive part of the Chairboys' side who rivalled Birmingham City at the top of League One for the first half of last season. In fact, the penalty he scored against Exeter City on his final appearance before he was recalled in January helped the Chairboys climb to the league's summit on New Year's Day.

There were plenty of factors as to why Wycombe fell away during the second half of the season and ultimately fell in the play-offs with a whimper, and one of which was the departure of the Bolton loanee.

His contributions last season will still be fresh in the memories of those at Adams Park, and if he becomes available, they'll be keen to continue those next month.

The win over Bolton on Saturday saw Michael Duff's side go within six points of their opponents, who occupy the final spot in the play-offs currently.

A strong transfer window could see Wycombe receive the boost needed to push into the top six in the second half of the season, and ensuring that they win the race for Morley would be step one in having just that.

Luton though present a strong challenge to fend off for Wanderers, and they are in clear need of reinforcements after Jack Wilshere's slow start to life as the club's head coach - Morley would bring clear League One experience and a bit of drive in the engine room, and they may have far more funds than Wycombe to get a deal done, both in terms of transfer fee and wages.
