The anger is mounting among Wydad Casablanca supporters towards coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem, reigniting speculation about his potential departure from the helm of the technical staff. Amouta stands as the frontrunner to succeed Benhachem.
According to a private Moroccan radio station, Wydad management is currently reviewing several coaching profiles who could take charge of the team.
One of the top names under consideration is Hussein Amouta, particularly due to his past triumphs with the club, including winning the CAF Champions League.
The Moroccan tactician also made headlines recently by guiding the Jordanian national team to the final of the 2023 Asian Cup. He was also close to taking over as head coach of the Kuwait national team, but negotiations fell through for financial reasons.
For his part, Wydad's official spokesperson, Talal Chaker, acknowledged that the supporters' reaction is understandable when results fall short of expectations, stressing that fans have every right to voice their opinions.
He also recalled that the victory over Union Touarga was secured thanks to the players' fighting spirit, despite the team being one man down after Walid Nassi was sent off.
