Real Madrid fans were dealt with yet another injury blow today as Eduardo Camavinga appears to have sustained the ankle injury he picked up last season.
The Frenchman, who missed quite a few training sessions so far, including Sunday’s session, has been ruled out of the upcoming friendly against WSG Tirol in Austria.
In addition, Camavinga is also doubtful for Real Madrid’s season opener against Osasuna later this month, thus joining Jude Bellingham on the sidelines.
With two key midfielders already sidelined and Luka Modric no longer an option, Xabi Alonso has called up multiple young players in today’s training session.
According to Mario Cortegana, Alonso has decided to call up a series of talented La Fabrica youngsters in training today.
The list includes the likes of Jesus Fortea, Kike Ribes, Victor Valdepenas, and Jose Reyes.
However, the youngest of the lot of Diego Lacosta, a young defensive midfielder born in 2008.
Aged just 17, Lacosta is currently plying his trade for Real Madrid’s U17 squad, where he has been playing since 2024.

Lacosta’s call-up is particularly interesting given the fact that Real Madrid have already lost Bellingham and Camavinga through injury.
Although Camavinga won’t be out for long, it appears Xabi Alonso is assessing all the youth options at his disposal, in case the club continue to struggle with injuries in midfield going forward.
For Lacosta, it will be an exciting opportunity for him to showcase his talents alongside some of the most gifted footballers in the world.
Another player worth keeping an eye on is Thiago Pitarch, who has been raising eyebrows following his performance in the friendly against Leganes and could be on the teamsheet in the upcoming friendly against WSG Tirol.
