Xabi Alonso has been officially confirmed as Real Madrid's next head coach.
Their former midfielder returns to Santiago Bernabéu having led Bayer Leverkusen to an unbeaten Bundesliga title in 2024.

The 43-year-old now comes back to his old club having won five major trophies in five years as a player in the Spanish capital.
Alonso will replace Carlo Ancelotti, who has already been named as the new head coach of the Brazil national team, and will be in charge for this summer's Club World Cup.
His first match will take place on June 18 against Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.
