Dani Ceballos’ future at Real Madrid has become a hot topic in recent days after fresh reports linked him with a move to Olympique de Marseille.

Interestingly, according to El Larguero, the French side are pushing for a loan deal with a mandatory option to buy.

However, it appears that Xabi Alonso does not see this as an ideal option and prefers to keep the 29-year-old midfielder.

The rumours gained even more strength when Ceballos posted a cryptic picture on social media with the caption “Last Dance,” sparking speculation that he could soon leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

Not long after, reports emerged suggesting that Marseille had already made contact with the player and were keen to strike a deal.

Marseille’s plan meets Madrid’s resistance

Marseille’s priority is to secure Ceballos on loan this season, with an obligation to buy him permanently in 2026.

The Ligue 1 side believe this would help them manage their finances better while still guaranteeing the player’s long-term stay.

However, Real Madrid’s stance is different. The club does not want to consider a loan and are instead waiting to see if Marseille will meet their valuation of €15-20 million.

For Los Blancos, Ceballos remains a valuable squad player, and Alonso is not ready to lose depth in midfield at a time when the team faces a long and demanding season.

Decision rests with Real Madrid

Talks between Marseille and Ceballos’ camp appear to be progressing well, with the player open to the move.

But the final say rests with Real Madrid, who remain reluctant to let him go cheaply. If Marseille are willing to meet Madrid’s asking price, a deal could move forward quickly.

For now, Ceballos continues to train under Alonso, and unless Marseille raise their offer, he looks set to stay at the Bernabeu.

His future may depend on whether Real Madrid value his role in the squad more than the potential transfer fee on offer.
