Quartet to miss showdown with unbeaten new boys

Xabi Alonso has revealed that Moises Caicedo will remain sidelined ahead of Chelsea’s encounter with Hull City on Saturday.

The midfielder returned from a calf problem against former club Brighton and Hove Albion a fortnight ago, but was forced off once more just 14 minutes into his comeback amid a flare-up.

The Ecuador international has since sat out the Blues’ 2-1 defeat by Arsenal and 6-3 win over Leeds, and he will not feature against the Tigers at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

"Let's see for Brentford [next week]," the Spaniard said on Caicedo.

Palestra revealed recently that he was nearing a comeback from a knock that he suffered in training on the eve of the season’s start, while Henderson is in the final stages of recovery from a broken wrist that he suffered in celebrating England’s win over Mexico in the World Cup last 16.

Emegha, signed from sister club Strasbourg, picked up a hamstring niggle in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Bromley in pre-season, which has since kept him out since the Premier League campaign commenced.

The injuries forced Alonso’s hand in the Carabao Cup earlier this week, with the Spaniard shuffling his pack heavily against Leeds, where the Blues went 2-0 down.

He started Malo Gusto on the right of a three-man midfield, which saw 16-year-old Reggie Watson as the sole anchor and Valentin Barco to the left, handed a first start in Chelsea colours.

That selection backfired, and Reece James was introduced to add some steel at half time, along with eventual matchwinners Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, who ran the show with two goals and four assists respectively.
