In the aftermath of a commanding performance at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid’s manager Xabi Alonso reflected on a victory that felt more like a well-orchestrated symphony than a fiery spectacle.
Alonso acknowledged that while the match may not have been a show of flashy football, it was a demonstration of total control. His side dictated the tempo from start to finish, navigating the contest without ever truly feeling threatened.
“It was a confident, not brilliant, but good win,” he remarked, his tone reflecting the composed nature of the performance. “We completely controlled the match and didn't face any stressful situations. Games like this may not always look impressive, but these are the ones that bring me satisfaction.”
A particular point of praise was reserved for Kylian Mbappé, who operated in a deeper, creative role rather than his usual explosive attacking position. Alonso seemed thoroughly impressed by the Frenchman’s footballing intellect and adaptability.
“He understands football perfectly and always does what's needed for the team,” the coach added. “Today, he did an excellent job with his role.”
With three points securely in hand, the focus now shifts to the next challenge. Los Blancos are set to continue their campaign against Levante on September 23rd at 21:30 CET.
