A slew of Real Madrid players have been linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu in the recent past.

One of them is Rodrygo Goes, a player still trying to find his feet after the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the new head coach.

One regarded as the future of the Real Madrid attack, Rodrygo has struggled to even start matches for Los Blancos this season, which led to speculation over his long-term future at the club.

However, things have changed drastically in recent matches. Rodrygo has been playing more often and it seems the player is finding it easier to work with Alonso.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid, confirming that Xabi Alonso himself is extremely happy with the Brazilian international.

Alonso is happy with the commitment and fighting spirit the player has shown in the last two months, eventually leading to him giving more game time to the attacker.

Going forward, Rodrygo could find himself in a more favourable position as Alonso has confirmed he is one of the players in contention to replace the injured Kylian Mbappe in the coming matches.

Therefore, Romano confirms Rodrygo won’t be leaving Real Madrid in the January transfer window. But as far as his future in the summer is concerned, nothing is set in stone.

Clubs interested in the forward could still come back, with Manchester City, Liverpool and PSG among teams who have scouted the player in the past.

Another factor that could play a role in determining Rodrygo’s future is his performance during the second half of the season. Not to mention, the 2026 FIFA World Cup may also impact his future in a big way.
