Incoming Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has made his stance clear on the futures of key duo Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella.
Both players are heavily tipped to leave the club this summer, but Football.London reports that Alonso wants to keep them in the squad despite growing exit speculation.
Chelsea are not actively pushing either player towards the exit door, but it is understood that the Blues would be willing to listen to suitable offers.
Fernandez is attracting serious attention from Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants keeping close tabs on the Argentine World Cup winner.
The 25-year-old has previously spoken about his admiration for Madrid and the possibility of living in the Spanish capital one day.
Those comments didn’t go down well earlier this year and have only fuelled speculation about a potential move this summer.
Chelsea had explored the possibility of extending Fernandez’s contract in January, but negotiations with the player’s camp didn’t reach any positive conclusions.
Since then, no fresh negotiations have taken place, and the midfielder has reportedly informed the club that he would like to move on this summer.
Chelsea are believed to value Fernandez at around £120 million, and will not allow the Argentine international to leave the club for a penny less.
The Blues also believe the World Cup could increase his value even further if he plays a major role in Argentina’s title defence.
Cucurella is in a similar situation to his Argentine counterpart.
The Spanish defender has attracted interest from both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, and reports suggest he is interested in returning to Spain after four seasons in London.
Chelsea are in no hurry to sell but will consider a sale if the right proposal arrives.
Cucurella recently appeared to shut down speculation about his desire to leave Chelsea by claiming he’s happy at the club.
That could change after the World Cup, although Chelsea are yet to name their price for the Spaniard.
