Xabi Alonso wants Real Madrid to sign Rodrigo Mendoza | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has earmarked a member of the midfield ranks at La Liga rivals Elche as a leading future target for his Blancos squad.

That’s according to Defensa Central, who highlight Rodrigo Mendoza as the player in question.

Mendoza, for those not familiar with his name, is a 20-year-old midfielder, capable of lining out in either an orthodox role or a more attack-minded one.

The Spaniard spent last season making a name for himself as one of the country’s standout up-and-coming talents, playing a leading role in Elche’s return to the top-flight.

And Mendoza has since taken to La Liga football like a duck to water, looking completey at home at the top level of the game.

One individual on whom such excellence has not been at all lost, meanwhile, is the aforementioned Xabi Alonso.

As per a report from Defensa Central, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements to his midfield ranks, Real Madrid headmaster Alonso has underlined Mendoza’s name in red.

With the youngster’s release clause sitting at just €20 million, a Blancos swoop in the summer of 2026 therefore looks a real possibility.
