Real Madrid extended their winning start to the new season to seven games in all competitions, when they defeated Levante 4-1 on Tuesday night in La Liga.

Goals from Vinicius Jr., Franco Mastantuono, and a Kylian Mbappe brace secured a comfortable win against the newly-promoted club at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Xabi Alonso made some changes to the starting lineup, keeping an eye on the upcoming derby against Atletico Madrid this weekend.

But, Vinicius, who has been in the news of late and not for the right reasons, was retained in the side and he delivered a strong performance.

What Xabi Alonso told Vinicius before Levante game

Now, according to El Chiringuito TV, Real Madrid manager Alonso had a chat with Vinicius prior to the game against Levante.

As is well-established, the Brazilian international has not been happy with his role this season under the Spanish manager. After all, he had been benched for two games and not played 90 minutes in even one of the first six matches.

However, during his chat with Vinicius before the Levante clash, Alonso informed the forward that he would be playing the full game at the Ciutat de Valencia.

The Real Madrid manager also made it clear to the 25-year-old that he trusts him, counts on him and that he will be an important player for the team moving forward this season.

The message from Alonso seemingly paid off as Vinicius delivered a fine performance against Levante, as he scored a stunning golazo a little before the half-hour mark before setting Franco Mastantuono up for the second goal ten minutes later.

It is expected that Vinicius will start against Atletico Madrid later this week, and it will be up to him to maintain this level in the derby.
