Bild reports that both Xavi Simons and David Raum could make their returns to the squad this Friday against Bayern Munich.
Both have been out for several weeks, but have been working on their fitness. Raum said he was fit enough to play against Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, but Marco Rose decided against picking him for the squad. While Simons only returned to team training on Wednesday having spent some of this rehab in the USA.
Due to Simons on recently returning, the plan is for him to start on the bench against the Rekordmeister. The same could be said for Raum after tests by Leipzig’s medical team are completed this week.
This is another boost for Leipzig after their 2-1 win against Frankfurt last weekend, as Raum and Simons are both important players and although they may not be used from the off they could prove to be game-changing against Bayern late on.
In their absence, Leipzig have had to change formation and this has seen the likes of Antonio Nusa and even Christoph Baumgartner step up at times for Leipzig in their difficult November. However, this could all be forgotten on Friday if Leipzig come away with a win as they will then only be three points off of Friday night’s hosts.
