Xavi Simons could soon be reunited with his old teammate as transfer talks intensify
Xavi Simons has dropped a major hint over a reunion with Savinho at Tottenham.
Spurs are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window, in response to their worst Premier League season of all-time, finishing 17th and only avoiding relegation with a win against Everton on the final day of the campaign.
Simons had his part to play in Tottenham’s struggles before being ruled out of action until 2027 due to a torn ACL, sustained against Wolves in April.
Spurs appear to have already made a start on addressing issues in the squad as reports claim they are closing in on the signings of defenders - Andy Robertson from Liverpool and Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth.
Savinho, meanwhile, is being touted as the attacking option, potentially replacing Richarlison.
Should the Brazilian make the switch to north London this summer then he will be reunited with Simons after the pair were team-mates PSV Eindhoven.
Interestingly, the Dutchman has fanned the flames of a transfer by posting an old picture of him and Savinho amid rumours that Spurs have approached Manchester City for the winger.
Man City had blocked an approach by Spurs last summer as Savinho was a more valuable member of the squad, but with the emergence of Antoine Semenyo as a key player after being signed in January, the winger saw his utility diminish under Pep Guardiola.
It is now reported that City have sanctioned his departure ahead the expected appointment of Enzo Maresca and Savinho, himself, is said to be keen on the move as he is on the hunt for regular first-team football.
Man City are understood to have slapped a £60million price tag on the Brazilian, but would be open to a reasonable proposal according to Fabrizio Romano, who also reported that talks are progressing well between the two clubs.
