New controversy and news always seems to find its way to Barcelona and continues to pester the club. Even when things look to be going great on the field, news from elsewhere looks to drag down all sorts of positive progress. Ultimately, such is the burden for a club like Barcelona to bear and overcome.

This time around, news has begun to spread that former coach Xavi Hernandez has reportedly been bothered by the words of a former protege at Barcelona. These words from 21-year-old Barcelona star Pedri were meant to highlight the work being done under Hansi Flick, but automatic comparisons began to spiral out of control in regards to Xavi’s coaching as well.

As a result, the coach has reportedly been ‘hurt and surprised’ by Pedri’s statements but both him and his camp allegedly believe that someone else may be pulling some strings behind the scenes to mislead players like Pedri into saying things that could imply something else.

According to SPORT, the primary suspect that Xavi’s camp has highlighted behind this agenda against the former coach is none other than Joan Laporta’s advisor Alejandro Echevarria. While he may be an unofficial member of the club, Xavi’s camp believes he is deliberately turning the players against him because their relationship did not exactly end on the best of notes.

In the case of Pedri, Xavi’s camp has reason to believe that he may have been misled by the Barcelona president’s advisor into believing that it was his former coach who was pushing for the player’s move away from the club. In reality, as per Xavi’s entourage, that could not be any further from the truth.

This entire situation was reportedly quite perplexing to Xavi at first as well, noting that both him and the player exchanged positive messages following the former coach’s departure. Yet, these recent statements could point to a much larger internal controversy that SPORT is highlighting.

Ultimately, it would be beneficial for Barcelona to stay away from these controversies as much as possible. It has become sort of a trend to see such negativity be spread regarding the club whenever they seem to be doing well in any given season. With a perfect start to life in La Liga so far, it almost feels too repetitive that Barcelona would be introduced to such news.
