SANTA TECLA, El Salvador – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with Xelajú MC earning a 2-nil win at CD Hércules in Group D on Wednesday at Estadio Las Delicias in Santa Tecla, El Salvador.
Kelvin Hernández had one of the best looks for the hosts in the 22’, missing just wide of the left post to spare the Guatemalan side after Melvin Urbina created a chance on a breakaway before laying off the pass for the potential assist.
Romário da Silva opened the scoring in the 48’ with a left-footed finish to ricochet the ball off the crossbar and into the net. Jorge Aparicio delivered a pinpoint lob into the box to find his teammate and collect the assist.
Pedro Báez extended the lead for the visitors in the 73’ with a right-footed finish inside the box, after connecting on a through pass from Jesús López.
Xelajú goalkeeper Rubén Darío Silva delivered three saves on the three attempts he faced to earn a 100% save success rate and collect his first clean sheet of the campaign.
CD Hércules will return to play next Wednesday when it hosts CD Olimpia of Honduras. Xelajú will also return to the field next Wednesday, hosting CD Águila of El Salvador.
