Yan Diomandé makes his first Real Madrid start of the season in Saturday’s home derby against Rayo Vallecano, with kick-off at 21:00 on La Liga’s fifth matchday.

According to L'Équipe, the 19-year-old Ivorian, signed from RB Leipzig for €125m excluding bonuses on 6 August, is selected by José Mourinho on the right in an attack alongside Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham. He has 14 caps and three goals for Ivory Coast.

Mourinho has been cautious with Diomandé, introducing him five times from the bench so far, four in La Liga and once in the Champions League against Inter Milan on Tuesday, a 2-1 win. He has played under 100 minutes in total without a decisive contribution.

It is the first time this season that Real’s anticipated front four all start together, with Vinicius on the left and Bellingham central behind Mbappé.
