Real Madrid announced the signing of Yan Diomandé on Thursday, ending weeks of speculation. The 19-year-old Ivorian winger has agreed a seven-season deal to 30 June 2033. According to Le Progres, the fee is about €140 million including add-ons, a club record.
The club did not disclose the amount. The figure would also set an African transfer record, ahead of Bryan Mbeumo at Manchester United.
Diomandé joined RB Leipzig in summer 2025 from Leganés on the outskirts of Madrid. He broke through last season with 12 goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga and was named the league’s best young player. He can operate on either flank.
His displays in Germany and for Côte d’Ivoire at the World Cup in North America made him one of the most sought-after players of this window.
He becomes Real’s sixth arrival of the summer after Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries and Carlos Espi.
Diomandé is expected to start on the right alongside Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior under José Mourinho, who has returned to Madrid 13 years after his first spell.
