Yang has been something of an enigma since he signed for the club 18 months ago. The South Korean works hard and shows moments of brilliance, but he blows too hot and cold, and at this football club you can’t afford to rest on our laurels. You have to strive to get better and do it on a consistent basis. It’s what the supporters demand at this club.
In the past week however, he’s shown what he’s capable of. He had a fine game against Raith Rovers scoring a terrific goal and provided an assist.

He followed on from that by looking the part when he was thrown into the action against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, laying on the assist for Daizen Maeda’s goal and looking to create something ever time he was on the ball.
After the effort of the players on Wednesday night there will be a few aching limbs in need of a rest for tomorrow’s clash against Dundee United. And with Tuesdays clash at Bayern on the agenda, we will most likely see a few tweaks to the starting line up.

The likes of Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn could well be rested and that would mean a place in the starting XI for Yang.
It’s vital if selected that he puts in a good performance and shows the ability he clearly has. As we enter a vital period of the season we need all our players hitting top form, and that includes Yang. His Celtic career could well depend on it.
Yesterday Brendan Rodgers talked very favourably about Yang and his development this season, it’s almost like a badge of honour for the Celtic manager to show the support that there’s a top player there and he’s the man to provide the guidance and development to make us all see what he himself observes in training.
Today is the perfect day for Yang to take the bull by the horns.
