Calvin Miller doubled the lead (61.) with a right-footed finish into the same corner from the centre of the area.

Scott Bain made key first half saves to deny Mikael Mandron as The Bairns held firm before taking control after the interval.

St Mirren's afternoon worsened when goalkeeper Shamal George went off injured (66.), with Ryan Mullen drafted in.

The Bairns controlled possession at 61.9% and fashioned 11 attempts, using width and set pieces to pin the hosts back. St Mirren mustered nine attempts and four corners but lacked a cutting edge.
