Bernardo Silva has already made one of the most important decisions of his career. The Portuguese midfielder, a key figure in the most successful era in Manchester City’s history, will bring his time at the Etihad Stadium to an end this summer when his contract expires.

At 31 years old, Bernardo believes the time has come for a fresh challenge. And interest in his services is far from lacking.

In recent weeks, several European giants have explored the possibility of signing the Portugal international, with the name of FC Barcelona also doing the rounds.

The Catalans have been long-time admirers of the versatile midfielder and have tried to sign him on multiple occasions in the past. They are understood to be monitoring his situation now, too, although he is not a priority.

For his part, Bernardo has made his intentions very clear. The Portuguese international wants his future decided as soon as possible so he can head into the World Cup without uncertainty hanging over him.

“Yes, I want to decide on my next club before the World Cup,” the Manchester City captain said in an interview with Canal 11 (h/t SPORT).

“I’d like to arrive in Portugal with my future already sorted,” he added.

Juventus and Barcelona to battle for Silva?

One of the clubs pushing hardest to sign Silva at this point are Juventus. The Bianconeri are already working on a formal proposal and remain in constant contact with Jorge Mendes in an effort to convince the midfielder.

Meanwhile, Silva continues to dream of a move to Barcelona and is waiting to see if the Catalans make a move.

In fact, reports in Spain have suggested that Mendes has tried to convince the La Liga champions to consider signing the 31-year-old.

That said, although sporting director Deco and the club hierarchy admire his profile and believe he would fit perfectly into the team’s style of play, signing Bernardo is not currently considered an absolute priority.
