Juventus announced the renewal of Kenan Yildiz over the weekend, and his new contract is slightly richer than previously anticipated. He’ll be on par with Jonathan David as the highest-paid player on the squad, making €6M annually. He’ll also have an extra bonus granted by the ownership, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.
The Turkish talent has a direct line to John Elkann, as did the previous stars of the team who were anointed from the very top. The Bianconeri had been working on it since the start of the season. They put the finishing touches right after the January window.
Yildiz committed to Juventus for a few years, as the new deal will run until 2030. He never gave in to the courtship of the foreign powerhouses that tried to lure him in the past, for instance, Chelsea and Real Madrid, nor did the club ever seriously consider cashing in on him to improve their often challenging financial situation.
The 20-year-old was poached from Bayern Munich in 2022 and progressively moved up the ladder until becoming a reference point in the past campaign and leveling up in the current one. He has notched 9 goals and 8 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.
The timing was impeccable, as it avoided the chatter that could have popped up during the spring. It appears that a release clause was never even discussed, which ensures his permanence for a while. We’ll see whether the Old Lady will be strong enough to resist the mammoth offers that will inevitably arrive in the future. Moreover, the agreement sets the threshold for their next high-end signings salary-wise.
