Yoane Wissa shines in his Champions League debut
Yoane Wissa enjoyed a night to remember with Newcastle in the Champions League. Handed his first ever start in the competition, the Congolese striker scored and provided an assist in the Magpies' emphatic 3-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven.
Wissa opened the scoring after a mistake from the opposing goalkeeper, netting his very first European goal. Later, he set up Anthony Gordon perfectly for Newcastle’s second. Having arrived from Brentford in September, the 29-year-old fully justified his manager’s faith in him.
Deeply moved, Wissa described the game as a “special night”, a symbol of his remarkable journey. A powerful performance that confirms his rise on the European stage.
