Scoring the all-important goal to confirm promotion or major titles is the stuff every schoolboy and schoolgirl dreams of.

Today, York City's John Stones cemented his place in club lore after bagging the goal that saw the club claim National League honours and passage back to the Football League.

A final day clash with fellow promotion hopeful Rochdale could not have offered a more fitting moment for someone to stand up with a moment of magic for either side, and Rochdale's Emmanuel Dieseruvwe thought he was that man when he broke the deadlock in the fifth minute of added time in the second half.

Fans rushed onto the pitch at Crown Oil Arena as, surely, automatic promotion was in the bag.

But Stones had other ideas, popping up with a moment of magic when he bagged the equaliser in the 103rd minute to put the sides back on level terms and push York back atop the table ahead of the home side.

You'll never find a more dramatic finish to a football league season anywhere. Cue the Titanic theme song.
