Manchester United take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the Premier League today.
The Red Devils are 12th in the table with 15 points and have the opportunity to climb up to ninth with a victory against Kieran McKenna’s side.
New manager Ruben Amorim has trained the players in his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, and there could be some surprise selections.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Predicted Line-up:
Andre Onana remains an undisputed starter in goal. He has been in fantastic form with several key saves. The Cameroonian is expected to keep his place.
Matthijs de Ligt should be a nailed-on starter on the right side of the back three, and he could be accompanied by Jonny Evans and Leny Yoro.
Lisandro Martinez is doubtful after withdrawing from international duty with a back issue which could pave the way for Yoro’s much-awaited debut.
Victor Lindelof could also miss the game with a hamstring concern.
Amorim has hinted that he could initially start with defenders in the wing-back positions as the wingers still need to adapt to extra defensive duties.
With this in mind, Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui are most likely to take those roles.
Manuel Ugarte should be a guaranteed starter in the number six slot, having already played in a similar system under Amorim at Sporting CP.
Alongside Ugarte, Mason Mount will probbaly be reinstated into the starting XI after his long injury lay-off.
Casemiro has been in decent form in recent weeks, but Amorim could give preference to Mount over the Brazilian due to his better ball retention and passing skills.
Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo could operate as the inverted forwards behind the striker.
Diallo has played as the number 10 in the past and could easily adapt compared to Alejandro Garnacho.
Marcus Rashford is expected to lead the attack instead of Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee.
The Englishman has had more training sessions under Amorim, and he was spotted leading the line on Monday. It could be his main position going forward.
