After finding the net in Newcastle’s EFL Cup exit against Leicester, striker Yoshinori Muto is hopeful it will be the first goal of many this season.
The 27-year-old scored what was just his second goal on Tyneside, having arrived last summer from Mainz.
He netted just once at Old Trafford in his debut campaign before finding the net on Wednesday after being handed an opportunity to impress.
With Muto not lacking in confidence, he is eager to receive further chances to show what he can do.
“I’m very pleased and happy to score but we didn’t win the game so I’m not satisfied,” he told Newcastle’s official website.
“I have a lot of confidence and I want to score in the Premier League. I need to score.
“That is my job: to score goals. So I need to keep working very hard, just like the team.
“We played well against Leicester, even if we lost which makes us disappointed with the final result.
“Now it is about working hard and keeping our heads up. We need to win against Watford so we’re focused on that game.”
The 27-year-old has made just two substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.
