‘You are the best’ – Real Madrid legends rally behind Florentino Perez during presidential presentation | OneFootball

Florentino Perez wanted his presidential presentation to send a message of power, stability and unity around Real Madrid and by the end of the event, that message had become impossible to ignore.

Perez arrived at the venue knowing the elections would bring criticism and pressure from rival voices, but he also knew exactly how to remind supporters of the figures who still stand beside him.

That was where Ronaldo Nazario’s presence carried enormous weight.

What’s the story?

The Brazilian icon, one of the most symbolic signings of Perez’s first Galactico era, was among several former Real Madrid figures invited to support the acting president. 

Furthermore, Roberto Carlos and Santiago Solari were also present, but it was Ronaldo who ended up producing the moment that drew the biggest emotional reaction from the crowd.

Before Perez even took the stage, the two embraced warmly near the front row while supporters inside the venue applauded loudly. 

It was a scene loaded with symbolism given the history between the pair dating back to Ronaldo’s arrival from Inter Milan in 2002, a transfer still remembered as one of Florentino’s most iconic moves.

Ronaldo stands in Perez’s support

Once Perez finished speaking, several club legends gathered around him on stage as the applause continued. 

Perez even encouraged Roberto Carlos to say a few words, but the Brazilian full-back stepped aside and allowed Ronaldo to speak instead.

Addressing the Real Madrid president directly, Ronaldo said, “President, you are the best and you will always be the best. 

“All the members will be very grateful for everything you have done. Hala Madrid,” he shouted.

With tensions rising around the presidential race, candidates are certain to play around with the emotional angle, although in Perez’s case, he has already received Karim Benzema’s affirmation without even calling for any endorsement.
