Young midfielder has joined Aston Villa after falling down the pecking order
Elliott has called time on a six-year spell with Liverpool, who he joined from Fulham in 2019 as a 16-year-old. He went on to make almost 150 appearances for the club but was afforded just two starts in the club's Premier League title-winning run last season after slipping down the pecking order.
A move to Villa Park materialised, with Elliott joining on loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent to the tune of £35million. Liverpool reportedly hold a buy-back clause.
Salah paid tribute to the young midfielder, who “leaves as a champion”.
The Egyptian star posted on X: "You’ll be remembered for your loyalty and dedication every time you were called upon. You leave as a champion, and I’ve got no doubt you’ll do big things at your new club. They are lucky to have you."
Elliott was one of a number of big-money exits at Anfield this summer as Arne Slot spent almost £500million strengthening his side.
Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Ben Doak and Jarell Quansah all left for a combined £156million, as the Reds twice broke the British transfer record on Florian Wirtz, who joined for £116m, and then Alexander Isak, for £125m.
