Inter Primavera beat Leipzig 3-1 at home to pick up their fifth consecutive win in the Youth League this season. After a difficult first time, Inter turned things around in the second half thanks to a penalty from Spinaccè and a brilliant brace from Topalovic. It was another convincing display by Andrea Zanchetta’s side, who had already progressed to the round of 32 after beating Arsenal.
Inter made an aggressive start, with Dickes keeping out a fifth-minute effort from Spinaccè. Five minutes later, Schoßler almost opened the scoring with a header for the visitors. The Nerazzurri had a good chance in the 15th minute, when Spinaccè nodded narrowly wide from a Romano cross. Leipzig scored the opener after 25 minutes: Neumann sent in a ball for Bulland, who fired first time into the net. Venturini came close with a header in the 29th minute, while De Pieri (from a free-kick) and Zouin both had a go from distance without success. The first half finished with the Germans in front.
Two minutes into the second half, Spinaccè was brought down in the box and stepped up to convert the resulting penalty, bringing Inter level. After a Zamarian save to foil Bulland (53’), the Nerazzurri scored their second with 63 minutes on the clock: Topalovic found the top corner with a wonderful right-footed curling effort from outside the box. Shortly afterwards, the same player added a third with a free-kick that deflected off the wall and beat the Leipzig goalkeeper. In the closing stages, with Inter well in control, Dickes thwarted both Cocchi and Zouin. Inter saw the game out comfortably and now have five wins to their name in Europe.
