Former Celtic defender Yuki Kobayashi scored a stunning long-range goal for Jagiellonia Bialystok as they narrowly lost 2-1 to Lech Poznan…

The Japanese centre-back produced a spectacular strike from around 30 yards to briefly haul his side level against the Ekstraklasa leaders.

Just minutes after Lech had opened the scoring, Kobayashi collected possession inside the opposition half and was allowed to stride forward unchallenged.

With space opening up in front of him, the 26-year-old unleashed a powerful left-footed effort which flew into the top corner to send the sides into the break level.

It was only Kobayashi’s second goal since moving to European football, having also found the net for Jagiellonia last season, and the fifth of his senior career.

However, the former Celt was ultimately denied a memorable result as Michal Gurgul struck a late winner for Lech.

Kobayashi joined Celtic from Vissel Kobe in January 2023 but struggled to establish himself at Parkhead before eventually moving to Jagiellonia.

He has since become a regular for the Polish side and featured as they knocked Rangers out of Europa League qualifying earlier this season before securing their place in the league phase.
