Yuri Alberto suffers right hamstring injury, Corinthians confirm | OneFootball

Corinthians confirmed on Friday that centre-forward Yuri Alberto has a right hamstring injury. The club said he has begun physiotherapy and did not disclose the grade or a return timeframe.

Yuri left the match against Athletico-PR on a stretcher in tears after pulling up during a sprint on 29 minutes of the second half. He was introduced at the interval after starting Thursday’s game on the bench.

Corinthians also lost Morocco midfielder Zakaria Labyad, who twisted his left knee late in the first half and sustained a meniscus injury and a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in the same knee.

Head coach Fernando Diniz considered the poor condition of the new Neo Química Arena pitch very likely to have caused Labyad’s injury.

Midfielder Rodrigo Garro, who featured only in the second half, suffered a right foot knock, missed Friday’s training session and began treatment in the physiotherapy department.

Yuri, the team’s top scorer this season with eight goals, is regarded by Diniz as integral for pressing, movement and link play, and his absence is a concern as they look for solutions for Sunday.

Earlier this year he had a grade two left hamstring injury that kept him out for a month. Last year he suffered a lumbar vertebra fracture, underwent inguinal hernia surgery, and managed pubic oedema and left adductor overload, recovering quicker than expected each time.
