Yuri y Guruzeta back in group training as Athletic resume after break | OneFootball

Yuri Berchiche and Gorka Guruzeta have rejoined Athletic’s group training after a four-day break. According to El Correo, both featured in Monday’s return session and again on Tuesday within the 15 minutes open to the media.

Yuri ended the last league game before the international break against Alavés at San Mamés with discomfort, and the club did not issue a medical report. Guruzeta had a hamstring problem that kept him out against Alavés and previously Elche. His last outing was the 3-0 win over Atlético.

On Tuesday the pair worked normally in rondos before the main session began. The squad had reconvened on Monday afternoon after four days off granted by Edin Terzic.

International call-ups left Simón, Laporte and Nico absent, with Djaló involved for Guinea-Bisáu in the second matchday of Africa Cup qualifying and Padilla with Mexico. Attention now turns to Friday’s Euskal Herri Txapela final at 19.00, against Real at Anoeta.

Edin Terzic and Pellegrino Matarazzo will probably use the fixture to hand minutes to the lesser used and to fine-tune details.

Athletic’s next league game is on 10, away to Rayo in Vallecas, aiming to move on from the two recent home draws with Elche and Alavés. In both, Athletic struggled to break down sides sitting deep and waiting to counter.
