Zé Rafael will report back to Santos on Tuesday 30th, but is expected to remain out of the first-team plans and train separately.

According to Diario Do Peixe, he did not report with the squad on Monday 22nd and there is still no agreement over a contract termination. He had already been training away from the group before the break.

Under contract until the end of 2027, he believes the club no longer count on him and is waiting for transfer-window options. This year he has one goal and one assist in 12 appearances, including one in the Copa do Brasil and one in the Sudamericana.

He played five times in the Paulistão. In the Brasileiro he assisted against Chapecoense and scored versus São Paulo in the opening two rounds. As he has not reached the 13-game cap in Série A, he can still join another Brazilian club.

He has also dealt with conjunctivitis, tendinitis, oedema in his right thigh and an ankle sprain. Signed in February last year, he featured in 27 Brasileiro rounds and scored against Corinthians. He turned 33 last week, and after paying R$ 15 million to Palmeiras, the board now view an exit favourably to trim the wage bill.
