Roma full-back Zeki Celik’s agent rejected rumours linking the player with a potential agreement with Juventus as the end of his contract nears.
In a statement as per Gianluca Di Marzio, the Turkish international’s agent Fazil Ozdemir denied reports of having reached an agreement with the Bianconeri for a potential summer move. While revealing that Celik is receiving interest from the Premier League and elsewhere ahead of the expiry of his current contract with Roma, Ozdemir said: “The rumours that Zeki has reached an agreement with a club are not accurate. He currently plays for a major club, and it is natural that big teams in Italy and England would show interest in a player competing at this level and that his name would be associated with such clubs.”
Celik’s agent talked about his client’s commitment to the project at Roma, and he believes that the present impasse between both parties with regards to the contract renewal will soon be cleared. He commented, “His contract with Roma expires at the end of the season; however, he has great respect for the club. At this stage, he is not focused on contractual or transfer issues. His full attention and commitment are focused on supporting Roma in achieving its objectives. We believe that all other matters will be addressed and resolved in due course, in a professional and respectful manner.”
The 29-year-old right-back’s contract with the Giallorossi ends this June. It is for certain that Juventus have made themselves ready to fit in Celik should the opportunity arise, but Inter and Napoli are also in the running for the player. Celik has 28 starts across all competitions this season, and that is a positive note for Roma to renew a player who has played such a crucial role till now in their campaign.
