Flamengo are pursuing a move for Zenit forward Luiz Henrique, with the Russian club intending to discuss a sale after the World Cup in July. The fee is set at around 40 million euros, five million euros more than Zenit paid Botafogo.

"I cannot answer that. I cannot say. Whether it is only Botafogo or Fluminense, I cannot say. I want to perform my best for my club so that, afterwards, I can decide with my family," he told Goat.

There are hurdles for Flamengo. The winger is identified with Botafogo and is a Fluminense graduate, and the Rio club have not had positive experiences trying to prise players from Zenit.

Flamengo have targeted Luiz Henrique since 2024. Talks with then club Real Betis dragged, and Botafogo owner John Textor intervened to sign the 25-year-old.

Luiz Henrique is currently with Brazil for friendlies. Brazil face Croatia on Tuesday, 31, their final warm-up before the World Cup squad is named, with kick-off at 21:00 Brasília time.
