Piotr Zielinski admits Inter players will be ‘sorry’ to see Denzel Dumfries leave and insists Robert Lewandowski ‘can easily fit into’ Serie A.
Inter and Poland midfielder Zielinski spoke to Sportmediaset while on international duty.
The big news on the black and blue side of San Siro is that Dutch wing-back Dumfries will join Real Madrid in a €20m deal.
The Merengues will activate his €20m release clause, and according to Fabrizio Romano, Dumfries has already undergone medical tests with the Ligue 1 giants.
“Surely, we’ll be sorry because Dumfries is an excellent player who has made history at Inter,” Zielinski said.
“Therefore, we are sorry, but certain offers can’t be rejected. If he joins Real Madrid, we can only congratulate him and wish him good luck.”

Atalanta-owned Marco Palestra is Inter’s main candidate to replace Dumfries.
“I don’t know if Palestra will arrive; I’m not dealing with these things. He’s strong, but you have to see if he arrives or not,” Zielinski said.
Zielinski’s compatriot Lewandowski sees his Barcelona contract expire at the end of the month and his agent has already met with Juventus and Milan.
Would Zielinski suggest that his compatriot move to Italy?
“Surely, he’s a champion. He can easily fit into our league,” the Inter midfielder replied.
Inter won the Serie A and Coppa Italia in Cristian Chivu’s first season as a coach at San Siro with Zielinski playing a key role for the Nerazzurri.

Therefore, the Poland international is not considering leaving this summer.
“I think so. I want to stay because it’s a big team, and I think one can always improve and do even more,” he said.
“We have a deep squad; surely those in charge of the market will do something and make a competitive team. I can’t wait to get some rest and then start the pre-season again.
“We must improve in the Champions League, and I’m sure we will because we are a strong team,” he concluded.
“As I said before, maybe with some reinforcements, but the team is already strong and competitive, and it didn’t go as we wanted.”
