PSG’s goalkeeping hierarchy remains a running battle under Luis Enrique, with Matveï Safonov installed as number one and uncertainty behind him. According to L'Équipe, Lucas Chevalier’s grip on the number two spot is under threat from the imminent signing of Zion Suzuki from Parma.

Safonov played a major part in PSG’s second Champions League triumph, then started Wednesday’s 2-1 UEFA Super Cup win over Aston Villa, underlining that he will begin the season as first choice.

Behind him, there is still a question over the designated deputy. Alessandro Longoni, 18, has arrived on a free from AC Milan to replace Renato Marin in headcount after his loan to CD Nacional in Portugal, and to complete the trio at Luis Enrique’s disposal.

Even so, the number two role initially earmarked for Chevalier is not yet fully guaranteed. The looming addition of Suzuki leaves his status uncertain.
