Milan coach Sergio Conceicao was mourning as Zlatan Ibrahimovic addressed the media after a hard-earned 1-0 home win against Hellas Verona. During his brief chat with Sky Sport Italia via TWM, Ibrahimovic hailed the impact of winter signings.

Santiago Gimenez became only the third Milan player to score in their first two Serie A appearances this century. Andriy Shevchenko and Christian Pulisic had previously achieved that feat, underscoring the quality the Mexican brought to the San Siro in January.

Ibrahimovic showered the new Milan hero with praise in the post-match interview.

“I expected things to go this well because Gimenez is someone who likes to score goals and this is a team where the ball does get into the box,” Ibrahimovic stated. “You just have to be ready to meet it and put it into the net.

“It is not easy coming to Italian football as a foreigner, but we are helping him to settle in and step by step get stronger.”

He also praised Joao Felix, who joined Milan from Chelsea on loan until the end of the season.

“He came here to play and to help. The coach makes the decisions, it depends on the games and his form,” the Milan executive added. “Joao Felix is a player who always wants the ball at his feet, he creates situations and if he is in good form, then he should play. It is up to the coach.”

After bouncing back from a disappointing result in Rotterdam, Milan will host Feyenoord at the San Siro, looking to overhaul a narrow 1-0 deficit in their Champions League knockout playoff tie.
