Zubeldía slams refereeing v Mirassol: "They're on a bad run"

After Fluminense's defeat to Mirassol, 2-1, in the Brasileirão last Wednesday (8), coach Zubeldía criticized the refereeing situation in Brazilian football and commented that mistaken decisions influence the course of the match.

Obviously, the referees are not able to make good decisions. I don't know if it's because of pressure, I don't know if it's a matter of ability, I don't know if it's just coincidence. Clearly, they are going through a completely negative phase, and definitely, the referees are making wrong decisions that affect the flow of the game. God willing, they can fix this situation, because it disrupts everyone's work... Clearly, they are being ineffective and this worries everyone who works with football,” declared the coach.

The head coach also spoke about the origin of the play that led to Lucho Acosta's disallowed goal, due to a foul by Canobbio on Danielzinho, as indicated by VAR.

Clearly, the Mirassol player steps on the ball. Then, there is contact, but the player is already practically falling, out of control of the ball. Then comes the last play, the strong tackle, I think it was by Renê. I don't know if they (the referees) are handling the pressure. I think there's a lot of pressure on them and, clearly, not all of them are qualified,” commented Zubeldía.

The Tricolor returns to the field against Juventude for the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship, on October 16, at 9:30 pm, at Maracanã.
