Real Sociedad’s central midfielder Martin Zubimendi is expected to undergo a medical examination before finalising a move to Arsenal.

According to BBC Sport, all the necessary paperwork concerning the Spain international’s transfer to the Emirates Stadium has been signed, and the agreement is now in its final phase.

The move hinges on the completion of a medical, which Arsenal are currently arranging.

Since the contractual details for Zubimendi’s move have already been settled, there is little urgency around the timing of the medical. However, there is a shared desire to conclude the last steps of the process promptly.

Once the 26-year-old clears the medical checks, Arsenal will be in a position to make his acquisition official.

Zubimendi is understood to have a release clause valued at £51 million, and both clubs have already agreed on how the payments will be structured.

The Gunners have admired Zubimendi for some time and have been actively pursuing a deal for several months.

Alongside Zubimendi’s pending arrival, Arsenal are also aiming to strengthen their attack, with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres listed among their primary options.

Negotiations are still underway for contract renewals involving Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Gabriel, Leandro Trossard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Ethan Nwaneri.
