Zulte Waregem add defensive reinforcements from Slavia Prague and Palermo | OneFootball

Zulte Waregem have had a busy few hours in the transfer window. The Belgian Pro League side have brought in two defenders on loan to give Michael Beale more options at the back. Slavia Prague defender Youssoupha Mbodji joins on a season long loan, while Palermo defender Salim Diakité also joins on loan, although Zulte Waregem have included a purchase option in the deal.

Senegalese defender Mbodji played 18 games for Slavia Prague last season, scoring three goals. The 22-year-old can play anywhere on the left or centrally if required and brings European experience, having played seven games in the Champions League for Slavia Prague last season. Two of his goals came in that competition last year.

Diakité provides cover on the opposite flank. The 26-year-old from Mali has spent the majority of his career in the lower leagues of Italian football. He joined Palermo in 2024 and has gone on to play 66 games for the club, scoring five goals. During the 2025/2026 season he was loaned out to fellow Serie B side Juve Stabia.
