FC Bayern have once again written soccer history this Bundesliga season. With an incredible 122 goals, the German record champions not only set a new Bundesliga record, but also scored the second most goals ever scored by a club in one season in the top five European leagues.

Only the traditional Italian club FC Torino was even more prolific in the 1947/48 season, when the Italians scored 125 league goals and thus still hold the historic record. However, they are now followed by FC Bayern – ahead of Real Madrid, who scored 121 goals in 2011/12.

What is particularly impressive, however, is the number of games in which the German record champions have scored 122 goals. While Torino set the record in 40 games and Real Madrid also had 38 games in their record-breaking season, Bayern managed it in just 34 games.

Munich thus delivered one of the most spectacular attacking seasons that Europe has ever seen. Week after week, Vincent Kompany’s team dominated their opponents with pace, joy of playing and enormous efficiency in front of goal. The goals were spread across numerous shoulders, with a total of 19 different players scoring.

Kane secures top scorer crown

The English superstar once again confirmed his status as one of the best strikers in the world and was once again Bayern’s outstanding goalscorer. With 36 goals, he secured the Bundesliga top scorer’s crown. Luis Diaz and Michael Olise each scored 15 times and Serge Gnabry and Nicolas Jackson also impressed with eight goals each.

The offense also caused a stir internationally, with the whole of Europe discussing how dominant Munich were this season. The fact that the record champions are now historically only behind the legendary season of FC Torino underlines the exceptional quality of this team.
