15 Barcelona players have been called up for international duty during the March break – Report | OneFootball

FC Barcelona’s influence across the international game is again clear to see this month. As the club season pauses, a huge group of first-team players has headed off to represent their countries, underlining just how good the squad under Hansi Flick is.

According to SPORT, 15 Barcelona players are away on international duty during this break. That is a major chunk of the squad, and from a Barca perspective it brings both pride and a familiar sense of risk, because international recognition is always good news until fatigue or injuries enter the picture.

Spain are taking the biggest share of Barca’s talent again. Joan Garcia, Pau Cubarsi, Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, Ferran Torres, Pedri and Lamine Yamal have all joined the senior national team, while Marc Bernal is with Spain Under-21. Xavi Espart is also away with Spain Under-19.

Beyond Spain, Barcelona’s dressing room is also scattered across Europe and South America. Ronald Araujo has joined Uruguay, Raphinha is with Brazil, Robert Lewandowski with Poland, Marcus Rashford with England, Roony Bardghji with Sweden and Joao Cancelo with Portugal.

From a Barcelona point of view, it is a sign of elite quality, but for Hansi Flick, it’s a headache that some of his most important players are unable to get any rest ahead of a gruelling schedule.

Already, the likes of Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Alejandro Balde, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi are missing out either due to injuries or having just recovered from one.

The last thing Flick needs is injuries to happen to some of these players away on international duty and let’s wait and see if they can emerge unscathed from these two weeks.
