Chelsea’s defeat to Leeds last night was brutally disappointing, especially in the context of the positive results from the week before.

There was not really a single acceptable performance out there from the Blues who started the game.

Tosin has already had a lot of criticism, and understandably so. His mistake leading to Leeds’ third goal was the single most identifiable individual error in the game, and will naturally be focused on as a summary of our sloppy defending and overall careless attitude in the game.

But beyond him there were other shockers which went more under the radar. Tosin’s 5.6 rating was the lowest in the team according to FotMob’s stats, but there was another player equally poorly regarded.

Enzo Fernandez needed to step up in the middle of the park with his usual partner Moises Caicedo out. But the Argentine really struggled in the middle. He gave his team none of the control in the game they look to him for.

He took 3 shots, none on target. Just one of his 5 crosses found it’s mark, along with 2 of his 5 long balls. He was dispossessed 3 times. He won 1 of his 4 ground duels and didn’t even compete in one aerial duel.

The former Benfica man perfectly summed up Chelsea’s performance – underprepared, undercommented, unacceptable.

In other news…

Chelsea have been linked with yet another talented young wonderkid – in this case a brilliant teenage talent from Burkina Faso who is still 16 but is being chased by a number of top teams.

Cole Palmer’s appearance in the second half as a sub was one of the few positives from the game last night, and it also means Enzo Maresca can shuffle his pack in attack a little. Two out of form players are at risk.
