Manchester United Under-18s registered a thrilling 3-2 victory over Arsenal Under-18s in the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals on Friday evening.
Jack Fletcher set the tone early at the Emirates, breaking the deadlock, but Arsenal roared back as Louis Copley and Max Dowman turned the tide to put the Gunners 2-1 ahead.
With United on the brink of elimination, Jaydan Kamason stepped up with a moment of brilliance, smashing home a stunning goal to drag the contest into extra time.
Bendito Mantato’s strike in the ninth minute of extra time was enough to knock the Gunners out of the tournament.
United right-back Kamason has enjoyed a stellar 2024-25 campaign.
Often an unsung hero, he is finally receiving well-deserved plaudits after standout displays against Chelsea and Arsenal.
The 18-year-old recorded two assists in the previous round against Chelsea.
He first teed up Chido Obi for his second goal of the evening before delivering a pinpoint ball to set up James Scanlon.
While Obi and Gabriele Biancheri have taken the limelight, Kamason has enjoyed a fantastic season.
The right-back stepped up at a crucial stage for his side against the Gunners.
With just seven minutes left in normal time, he seized possession at the edge of the box, taking a perfect first touch before rifling an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper from an almost impossible angle.
A relentless attacking threat from right-back, Kamason has demonstrated his ability to drive forward with purpose.
He is a progressive passer and plays with high intensity.
His defensive instincts were on full display when he produced a sensational last-ditch tackle to deny Ceadach O’Neill a certain goal.
There is still plenty for him to learn, but his raw talent and determination make him a player to watch.
With Ruben Amorim favouring wing-backs in his dynamic 3-4-3 system, Kamason could soon find himself knocking on the door of the first team.
