After a promising start to life back in the 2. Bundesliga, Arminia Bielefeld’s form has nosedived - with just one win in their last seven matches and four consecutive defeats. They now sit 11th on 10 points heading into Matchday 10.
In stark contrast, Elversberg are flying under Vincent Wagner. Unbeaten in eight league games, with seven wins in that stretch, Die Elv have firmly established themselves as promotion contenders for a second consecutive season. Forward Younes Ebnoutalib has been key, topping the scoring charts with nine goals.
Saturday marks the first-ever competitive meeting between the two sides. Elversberg’s impressive away form - losing just once on the road this season - will give them plenty of confidence heading to the SchücoArena.
Team news:
Arminia Bielefeld: Stefano Russo, Joel Felix, Jeredy Hilterman, and Roberts Uldrikis are all unavailable.
SV Elversberg: Luca Pfeiffer and Luis Seifert remain sidelined.
Predicted lineups:
Arminia Bielefeld (4-3-3): Kersken (GK) – Lannert, Großer, Schneider, Handwerker – Schreck, Wörl, Corboz – Sarenren Bazee, Grodowski, Momuluh
SV Elversberg (4-2-3-1): Kristof (GK) – Keidel, Rohr, Le Joncour, Günther – Condé, Poreba – Petkov, Conté, Zimmerschied – Ebnoutalib
Kiel’s season has been one of inconsistency, reflected in their mid-table position - 9th on 11 points. Home form has been a particular concern, with just one win at the Holstein-Stadion so far.
Bochum, meanwhile, have turned a corner since appointing Uwe Rösler, who replaced Dieter Hecking earlier this month. Rösler’s debut brought an instant uplift, as Bochum claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over Hertha BSC - only their second win of the campaign.
Both previous Bundesliga meetings between these sides ended in entertaining 2-2 draws, and fans will be hoping for more of the same on Saturday.
Team news:
Holstein Kiel: Mladen Cvejtinovic, Patrick Erras, and Andu Kelati are out injured. David Zec serves a suspension.
VfL Bochum: Koji Miyoshi, Kevin Vogt, and Ibrahima Sissoko miss out for Rösler’s side.
Predicted lineups:
Holstein Kiel (3-4-2-1): Krumrey (GK) – Nekic, Johansson, Komenda – Bernhardsson, Davidsen, Wagner, Tolkin – Kaprálik, Schwab – Harres
VfL Bochum (4-1-4-1): Horn (GK) – Morgalla, Masovic, Strompf, Wittek – Lenz – Wätjen, Bero, Onyeka, Holtmann – Hoffmann
Dynamo Dresden have become a tough side to beat of late, losing only one of their last six matches. However, with four of those ending in draws, they’ve struggled to turn resilience into results - leaving them 16th in the table with nine points from nine games.
In contrast, Paderborn are one of the league’s form teams. Ralf Kettemann’s men have won five straight, sitting third on 20 points and firmly in the promotion race.
The sides last met in 2022, playing out a goalless draw. Paderborn’s last win in Dresden came in 2021, but their unbeaten away record this season will give them belief they can end that wait on Saturday.
Team news:
Dynamo Dresden: Julian Pauli, Sascha Risch, Tim Schreiber, and Jacob Zickler are out injured. Stefan Kutschke is suspended.
SC Paderborn: Marcel Hoffmeier is the only absentee.
Predicted lineups:
Dynamo Dresden (4-3-3): Grill (GK) – Faber, Boeder, Bünning, Rossipal – Šapina, Hauptmann, Amoako – Lemmer, Daferner, Fröling
SC Paderborn (3-4-2-1): Seimen (GK) – Hansen, Götze, Brackelmann – Curda, Baur, Castaneda, Obermair – Bilbija, Klaas – Tigges
