2025 Africa Cup of Nations final: Morocco challenges CAF sanctions
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has announced its intention to appeal the decisions issued by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) disciplinary committee regarding incidents that occurred during the Africa Cup of Nations.
The federation considers that "the sanctions do not reflect the gravity of the events" that unfolded in the Africa Cup of Nations final, held on January 18 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
In an official statement released on February 3, the Moroccan federation, which hosted the tournament, pointed the finger at the opposing side for multiple violations. It specifically highlighted the withdrawal of Senegalese players and staff, the pitch invasion by their supporters, and the ensuing chaos.
According to the statement, the FRMF president sent a letter to the CAF president expressing his dismay, and simultaneously decided to challenge the decisions in order to protect Morocco’s rights.
It is worth noting that two days earlier, the Senegalese Football Federation had announced that it would not contest the sanctions, affirming its "full responsibility" for the incidents.
