Hervé Renard responded with ambition to the 2026 World Cup draw. "We’ve landed the best team in the world, Spain, who are number one in the FIFA world rankings and extremely tough to play against. But we’re taking it positively, telling ourselves it’s a privilege to face the best team in the world. Above all, it’s a pleasure," declared the coach.

The Green Falcons will take on Spain, Uruguay, and Cape Verde. Hervé Renard was quick to stress the need for caution against the other group opponents: "We hope to play the spoilers against Uruguay, who are also a tough side. I know Cape Verde well. I’ve spent a lot of time in Africa and have played there. They’re not an easy team to handle. We’re wary of everyone, and it’s up to us to be better than the rest."
