2026 World Cup: Kosovo defeats Slovenia and heads to the play-offs

Kosovo continues to impress in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. On Saturday night, the team secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Slovenia, sealing their spot in the play-offs.

In the 6th minute, Fisnik Asllani opened the scoring for Kosovo. After the break, Petar Stojanovic picked up a second yellow card, leaving his team down to ten men. Kosovo quickly capitalized on the numerical advantage. In a poorly controlled play, Žan Karničnik mishit his clearance and sent the ball over his own goalkeeper, Jan Oblak, scoring an own goal.
